Kang Il Kim is a distinguished expert with over 35 years of experience in capital market regulations and practices, having served at both the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) and private financial firms since joining the Securities Supervisory Board (SSB) in 1989. During his tenure at the FSS, he served in key positions including Director General of the Capital Market Investigation Department, Head of the Planning Team at the Special Investigation Department, Head of the Financial Investment Team at the Consumer Protection Department and Head of Team at the Accounting Service Department, etc. In these roles, Kim led investigations into unfair trading practices by listed and unlisted companies, conducted accounting supervision, and examined illegal short selling cases, etc.

Following his retirement from the FSS in 2020, he served as the chief auditor (Senior Executive Vice President level) at Kiwoom Securities. In this capacity, he oversaw internal audits for the headquarters as well as its subsidiaries and overseas branches, while playing a pivotal role in strengthening internal controls by managing evaluations of the internal accounting control system and conducting independent audits for Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance.
