Jeongju Jahng is a partner at Yoon & Yang LLC, and his main practice areas are customs, international trade, foreign investment, and intellectual property.
Mr. Jahng worked as a deputy director at the FTA Trade Rules Division, International Legal Affairs Division, Overseas Voting Team, and Trade Dispute Settlement Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. From 2013 he served as a deputy director of the Trade Dispute Settlement Division and the FTA Goods Division of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and retired after working in the Trade Dispute Settlement Division. Based on these experiences, Mr. Jahng provides legal services on resolving the various legal issues faced by domestic and foreign companies, and also provides advice to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Environment, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

  • Advised on numerous WTO agreements such as the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), anti-dumping agreements, subsidy agreements, and government procurement agreements
  • United States – anti-dumping measures on certain oil country tubular goods from Korea
  • United States – anti-dumping and countervailing measures on large residential washers from Korea
  • United States – measures concerning the importation, marketing and sale of tuna and tuna products
  • United States – case regarding technical barrier to trade on Canadian and Mexican beef
  • United States – measures affecting the production and sale of Indonesian clove cigarettes

[Matters related to trade agreements including free trade agreements]
  • Represented the Korean government in a land expropriation-related investment dispute (ISDS) filed by a U.S. citizen against the Korean government under the Korea-US FTA
  • Represented a Brazilian company in an anti-dumping investigation conducted by the Korea Trade Commission on uncoated paper made in China, Indonesia and Brazil
  • Advised on FTA negotiations between Korea and the U.S., including amendment negotiations for the Korea-US FTA and RCEP negotiations, and advised on many other FTAs that have already been executed
